Learning New Things...

Ok... we're not too comfortable with Mom sitting in that tub of water with the bubbles...

and the burning things in the burning things place are confusing...

but warm...

and warm is good.

and we're learning how to play nicely together...

and how to look VERY nonchalant..

I'm so pleased that they both like the baskets... I think a basket full of kitty is a pretty thing.

They are playing more now. I'm assuming that means they are more comfortable here. Big Kitty tells me when it is time to go to bed (with one plaintive cry) and sits on the back of the couch and rubs her head all over my head and face... it's so sweet...

and Baby kitty crawls all over me and then walks off as if I'm just not enough... but I love the crossed paws!

Pitter Patter...

I have one small deranged kitty resting by my side. She has finally discovered the tiny catnip mice that I put out for them. She just spent about a half an hour jumping and chasing and pouncing and twisting and killing this horrible threat to our existence.

I'm assuming she feels better and is healing just fine.

Her big sister watched with interest, and I am expecting her to join in in the next few days.

I'm thinking the baby is younger than they thought she was... she has that kittenish look.

Or maybe she's just deranged (grin).

Baby kitty in her basket. Later she found that she could watch out the window, and sat with her paws on the edge of the basket, watching everything that moved by the house. Her big sister came over and joined her, so I put another basket there in case they both want to watch.

Each has their favorite spot during the day, but they both join me on the couch for TV watching at night. If you notice, big kitty moves closer to baby kitty inch by inch until she is close enough to watch over her very closely...

Big Kitty watches baby kitty a great deal. I feel as if she didn't have much of a kittyhood and has to learn these things. She seems protective, and was pregnant when she came to the shelter, which may be the reason for her attitude. Elisha, my old big kitty had NO childhood, and had to learn everything from Calamity. He took great pleasure in everything he learned, so I await BK's awakening...

and I'm assuming, since I call them kitty and kitty (respectively) that their names are big kitty and little kitty.

I'm going to have to try to figure out how to use the camera better... or something. When I take pictures at night, the pre flash makes them close their eyes!!

More to come..

meanwhile, I have a couple of kitties to pet...

they looove petting...

Oh!.. and, though they are both really quiet, the little one squeaks and the big one cries ONCE when she wakes up and it's dark and she doesn't know where we are so I will come and get her and pet her and hold her...

I, of course, just hate it!

You're Stuck With This For A While....

I will tire of this, probably about the time you do, but until then, you're out of luck...

No pictures, but I have two kitties next to me on the couch, separated by my knitting/movie/junk basket.

These kitties are so adorable it's hard to believe. Both of my old kitties were aloof. One was feral... loving but not demonstrative, the other was probably picked on...

Both of these kitties are affectionate and unafraid to show it!

Lili kitty rubs her head against mine and constantly checks to see where I am...

Tramp kitty follows me around and climbs on my CHEST when I am working on the computer, right underneath my chin.. my left arm went to sleep today holding her and trying to compute..

I've missed having kitties more than I knew...

Last night they both slept on the bed with me... Lil on top of me and Tramp beside me..

I like kitties...

a lot...

New Friends...

So... we're all tired tonight from making fast friends all day long.

I picked up the kitties this morning. They didn't make a PEEP coming back from the vet's... poor things.. it's been a rough couple of days for them.

They so want to be loved. Each asks for it in their own way. They were hiding and checking out the corners, so I got on the bed. Within minutes, Lili was up there, happy as a clam... She finally curled up on my chest, and kneaded my armpit for, seriously, 10 minutes. She is very affectionate...

Tramp (Ok.. for now I'm calling them Lili and the Tramp, because the little one looks like Charlie Chaplin)... so Tramp hid under the bed much of the day, but came out and sat next to me on the couch, and LET me pet her until she fell asleep... Then Lili came up and sat on the top of the couch and slowly crept along until she was behind my head...

These pictures aren't great... I didn't take many because I didn't want to startle them any more than necessary.

I will get better ones...

You can see, however, that they at least will eat together!

KITTIES COMING!!

Ok... I'm so excited! These are lousy pictures (I went all the way back to take them... forgetting (because it's all before my time) that my PHONE CAN TAKE PICTURES... )...

Anyways.. I went to the SPCA today in spite of a plea from my sister for me to get a dog (grin). I was looking for sisters or familial kitties, but this SPCA keeps all the socialized kitties in one room, so you know they will get along.

I settled on the tortoise shell quite quickly.. she is the prettiest and most well mannered kitty. Her pictures are shaky, as I was trying to get a good shot... Then I started looking for a friend. There, hidden in a kitty hiding place, was the little black and white one, shy as could be. I petted her for a while and decided that she was a good choice also. When I came back to take the picture, she came right out of her little hiding place and sat and posed and waited for me to take her home! Look at the pretty look on her little face!

The people at the SPCA were so happy, specially for the tortoiseshell, as they all just loved her. The fact that I was taking two brought a couple of them close to tears. I love people who care for animals...

I will get much better pictures when I get them home. They are being neutered and chipped tomorrow. I get them on Friday.

Tomorrow I have to get the house ready!!

oboyoboyoboy..

now..

Pennsylvania 65000

For those of you who are too young to remember, the first big step from a switchboard operator was a phone number that had a prefix...

two letters that MEANT something..

Like AR 25025

Arizona, 25025 Or Granite 44325.. or..

Only the big cities had them at first, and then everyone had them. No area code...

just Pennsylvania 6500...

This went on well into my teen years and beyond. So simple.

Now I have to dial 11 digits to call my sister, who lives a half mile away...

So instead of settling for feeling like a dinosaur,

I got a new phone.

It's a music phone, but didn't get it for the music..

I got it cuz it's pretty..

oooo... pretty...

and shiny..

and skinny..

and has a 2 megapixel camera ... that's more than I ever used on my first camera that took all the pictures on my trips (except the last one)

and shiny...

we all know how I feel about shiny...

I love shiny....

and IT'S called the Gleam....

sigh...

still have to dial 11 numbers to talk to my sister, but now it's much more fun...
