And Then There Were Three...

I have to include my brother in all of this family stuff.

I find this picture interesting (telling?) for several reasons.

These are the infamous Butterfly dresses. My sister and I loved these dresses, and memory serves me with a remembrance of yellow sweaters with a single beaded butterfly (again, done by my mother?). I have seen a saved butterfly, but can't place where it is.

Also, if you notice, at this stage in our lives my brother and I look alike, almost enough to be twins. This will help you to understand why everyone thought I was going to be 5' 9" tall.. My brother is three years older than I....

Even in this picture!

As I look at this picture now, I am also struck by how much my brother looked like my father.

My sister and I often discuss how, at different times in our lives, we resemble different family members ... and then maybe never again.

and one more picture.

Christmas, 1943.

The trees we had back then were different... more Charlie Brown and less foliage. For some years (?) Santa brought the tree...

On Christmas eve...

Poor Santa!

and, of course, there was lots of Tinsel...

lead tinsel...

No wonder I have these tics...

The Best Little Girl in the Whole World...

no.. REALLY!

Wasn't I a cute baby?.. whatEVER happened.. sigh...

I really was the best kid. I didn't become ... well... ME... until I was old enough to realize that the world would get along just fine if I wasn't.

And the world has been on it's own since then!

And look how well THAT'S going...

I like this picture... LOOK at my hair.

For those of you who remember long discussions about my hair, you will note, please, that my hair is NOT long in the angel picture ...

and you'll remember why...

and yet, I take really good care of her nonetheless...(grin)

Angels in the Back Yard...

If you remember, my mother made our clothes... I think this included the hats but, then again, they just might be halos, as we were angelic children..

no..

really!

honest!

just LOOK at those faces!

One of the things I loved about having Mom make our clothes is evident in this picture. My sister and I have dresses made of the same material, but they are not copies. Each has a blue bow and ruffles, but each is different.

I miss my mother's creativity...

She made her outfit in this picture, and my brother's and she made the horsie...

(sorry you can't see the shoes, bonho... they're nifty!)

Even L.A. Gets the Blues

This picture was taken overlooking the airport. (in case you can't see the planes!) We actually had some weather last month, and it included rain, snow, cold and wind. I loved it, and so did the city! There's a nifty hill in El Segundo (the second... must have been an old oil field name). There is a place at the peak of the hill that has a marvelous view of the airport and all of Los Angeles. It's difficult to see the snow, but it's there, just to the right.

See.. even this city can be pretty.

Notice that I kept my promise to post regularly? I knew you would..

Bigger kitties, specially the baby kitty...

On to kitty talk. They are getting bigger and, if possible, more affectionate. Big Kitty (Lucretia... or Lucy, for short) almost always comes up at some time in the very early morning and stretches out on me, cleans my chin, bites it gently and goes to sleep again with her head buried in my neck. She is still showing behavior that relates to being mistreated, but is more relaxed all the time.

Little Kitty (the Squeak) is cuddly, but more independent. I'm not certain if that's because she's still such a kitten, or if that's just going to be her personality. We're working on it.. She loves to play with anything, so this house is filled with toys. EVEN SO, this picture shows what she thinks is the most fun... Killing the tablecloth.

I replaced this once, and now she's working on the new one. I think it's the soft fuzzy understuff...

or she's just nuts!
