The Lizard??
There was a lizard in my niece's kitchen today..
They're living in my mother's house - the house in which I lived for most of my young life. I don't remember ever seeing a lizard anywhere near that house, even though it is in the 'hills'.
She gently took it outside and it tried to bite her...
Come to think if it, the more I look at it, the more it looks like a gecko...
or some sort of Chameleon... ??
It's cute, though...

They're EVERYWHERE!!
The Deadwood Stage
So...
I'm sitting at breakfast this morning and the owner and I are discussing baseball. We are joined by another diner, and SOMEHOW, the discussion segues from Ken Burns Baseball series to Ken Burns Civil War series and, ultimately, to DEADWOOD.
Turns out that the aforementioned diner LOVES the series and has had no one with whom to discuss all the good stuff.
We talked and talked and there were so many things he didn't know because he'd never been on the boards or had 'one of those conversations' (you know, the ones that go on and on forever). It made me happy and a bit sad because I miss the series.
A lot...
Needless to say, another small world encountered, I was a bit late to see Mom today!

I Think It's Going to be a Scary Year...
The second big fire in this area in two months. There were 4 fires in Southern California yesterday. The worst was this one, which inundated Griffith Park. It's really sad, because it's such a beautiful area... and oasis in this busy city.
I borrowed this image from a fellow named Daniel Sofer. He takes INCREDIBLE pictures. If you go to the Hermosa Beach Web Cam page there is a link to his thumbnails. I'm going to put a link here (now that I've learned how)... check out some of the most beautiful pictures I've ever seen. You can buy them, or send a postcard with them... Many of them are sunset/ocean/beach pictures which make ME want to move here....
The picture above is of Griffith Park Observatory, which escaped the fire. So did the Zoo (phew!) and the carousel, which has been there forever, it seems...
One more picture... Sunset reflected on the windows of houses on the Strand (where the 'spensive houses live)
and an exquisite pier picture...
so many pictures of my pier I don't know which one to pick!!!!
OK... I have to stop now... picture fatigue !!

92 degrees!!! eep!
Where are my beautiful clouds?? Where's my fog??
It was 92 degrees in Lost Angeles today. NINETY @$#%&%@ TWO!
I'd blog about it, but it's too hot to type...
seriously...
the GOOD news is, I don't live in L.A., so it was about .. oh... a lot cooler down here.
However, this does not portend well for the future..
We , of course, had a fire today...
Why is it that the newscasters feel compelled to remark OVER and OVER how this would be a perfect day for some nut to go and set a fire...
sigh.....
Please..
send water...
Oh...
by the way...
Have you ever seen the 'new' Getty Museum from the back?
