Iowa
One of the first things that is striking about IOWA, other than the much greener, hillier landscape, is the lack of highway advertisements. The other thing is the proliferation of HUGE wind turbines, punctuating the landscape like huge happy exclamation points.
They also have rest areas with wifi, which is novel and welcome.
Today was a different ride. IOWA has a 70mph speed limit, and everyone wants to do 75 except those of us who don’t want to get the dozens of tickets I saw being given. ha!
A couple of Iowa farm places. I imaging this place is nasty in the winter, but it’s much prettier now.
I’m at the Sleepy Hollow campground outside of the Amana Colonies. I drove up to see the Amana Campground which was a huge parking lot.. I’ve been to this campground before and, although it’s on the interstate, is beautiful... as you can see.. I'm going to be here two nights... check out the Colonies tomorrow with the touristas, and not be in a hurry.
and me!
Those are geese. I imagine they are staying over on their way to wherever, although they might be pretty happy here until it gets too cold.
and...
just a peek at the Amana Colonies tonight..
